The Joy of Saying Nothing, Being Everything

I like to talk.

I use words as proof

And sometimes as armour.

I like to say what I believe

As if by saying it, I’ll make you believe it too.

I like the sound of my voice

When I’m speaking up for myself

And for those who struggle to be heard.

It’s hard to shut up.

I was taught to talk, after all.

I forget how much is said in silence.

How powerful it can be to communicate through the language of the body instead.

To sit with someone, to smile at someone, to hold the door open for someone.

To let my being speak for me:

I see you.

You matter.

I matter.

Thank you.
